EGF Wood Research Open Discussion

EGF Wood Research Open Discussion

Last year, the Event Greening Forum (EGF) contracted the University of Pretoria to research the use of wood in exhibition stands and its disposal after a single use, to better understand the sustainability challenges it may pose (especially in terms of waste management) and to put forward best practice recommendations. This year, the EGF is hosting a series of events to share the report findings – starting with this one.

EGF committee member Justin Hawes will give a short overview of the research, its findings and best practice recommendations. This will be followed by an open discussion to explore what steps should be taken next to establish a more responsible industry standard for the manufacture and disposal of exhibition stands. Venues, organisers and especially stand builders are encouraged to attend, to ask questions, raise concerns, propose solutions and explore a more sustainable approach for the future.

Date: Monday, 25 February 2019

Venue: Committee Room 2, Sandton Convention Centre

Time: 09:45 – 10:45

Cost: FREE

The EGF acknowledges and thanks the five South African stand builders who collectively funded this research: African Graphix, bluCube, Inspire Furniture Rentals, New World and Scan Display.
